I would rather you spend your money on new white/black/stainless appliances so that down the road, you can paint the cabinets whatever colour you (and your home) want. HOWEVER, keep in mind, that the white of the paper/canvas WILL over-exaggerate the undertones in your white and those undertones can seem considerably more passive once the plain white is out of the equation and the paint is up on the cabinets.
